\"\"<\/a>We live in the age of information. Unfortunately information does not improve one\u2019s communication skills. Companies are not just interested in what someone knows anymore. They want someone with the ability to communicate it to others. IBM employs technical writers to take complicated info and rewrite it so it doesn\u2019t insult the intelligence of the highly educated yet can be understood by the common man. This is no small feat.<\/p>\n

To complicate communication, people have a tendency to speak with \u201chidden\u201d meanings. Here are a few examples:<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 What was said: \u201cThat\u2019s interesting!\u201d
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 What was meant: \u201cThat\u2019s the stupidest thing I\u2019ve heard today!\u201d<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 What was said: \u201cWould I lie to you?\u201d
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 What was meant: \u201cI would lie through my teeth if it suited my purpose.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 What was said: \u201cLet\u2019s get together for lunch.\u201d
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 What was meant: \u201cThis is the only way I\u2019m going to get rid of this guy.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 What was meant: \u201cWhatever you do, DON\u2019T tell me the truth!\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 What was meant: \u201cI won\u2019t show up but this should get you off my back.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 What was meant: \u201cI meant every word I said.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 What was meant: \u201c\u2026until I can get to a telephone.\u201d<\/p>\n

And then we have the world of advertisement\u2026<\/p>\n

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 What is meant: \u2026 no fat, but\u00a0lots\u00a0and lots of sugar.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 What is written: Fixer upper\u2026
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 What is meant: The building was condemned.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 What is written: Quaint\u2026
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 What is meant: It\u2019s very, very old and moldy.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 What is written: According to statistical analysis\u2026
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 What is meant: Rumor has it.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 What is written: Going Out of Business Sale\u2026
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 What is meant:\u00a0\u00a0I\u2019ve been going out of business\u00a0for 50 years.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 What is written: Room with a view\u2026
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 What is meant: Every room has a view. Some\u00a0like looking at\u00a0brick walls.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 What is written: One of a kind\u2026
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 What is meant: Who would want two of them?<\/p>\n

Many times we read into the Bible what isn\u2019t really there because we think it has a \u201chidden\u201d meaning. I\u2019m not too sure about that. Jesus is pretty straightforward in what he teaches and gives a great deal of insight in how to live. It isn\u2019t until man tries to put in \u201chidden\u201d meanings that it tends to get complicated. So why not read the teachings of Jesus and learn how to live.<\/p>\n
