{"id":919,"date":"2012-01-29T09:00:54","date_gmt":"2012-01-29T15:00:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.barbdahlgren.com\/?p=919"},"modified":"2012-01-21T20:21:18","modified_gmt":"2012-01-22T02:21:18","slug":"919","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/barbdahlgren.com\/?p=919","title":{"rendered":"Living in the Present"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.barbdahlgren.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Road-Sign.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-924\" title=\"Road Sign\" src=\"http:\/\/www.barbdahlgren.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Road-Sign.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"212\" height=\"174\" \/><\/a>So many people live in the past and constantly lament what might have been.\u00a0 They spend all their time focusing on things they can do nothing about.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>They obsess over things like\u2026if only I had married the geek I thought was a loser in college who became a millionaire.\u00a0 If only I had taken that job with the start-up company I thought would go nowhere but went sky high.\u00a0 If only I hadn\u2019t gotten pregnant at sixteen.\u00a0 If only I had finished college instead of dropping out.\u00a0 If only I hadn\u2019t gotten drunk and had a tattoo of a naked lady put on my arm.\u00a0 If only, if only, if only\u2026 \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Everyone\u2019s life is full of missed opportunities, some unwise decisions, and regret.\u00a0 These things cannot be changed.\u00a0 It is better to accept and learn from them and move on.\u00a0 Yet many seem held captive by things they can do nothing about.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Others put their lives on hold waiting for the future.\u00a0 Yes, we look toward the future but we live today.\u00a0 God lives in the present.\u00a0 His name is \u201cI am\u201d not \u201cI was\u201d or \u201cI will be\u201d or \u201cI might have been.\u201d\u00a0 This walk with God is a day by day journey and we miss much when we don\u2019t focus on what God has in mind for us today.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>God doesn\u2019t supply tomorrow\u2019s needs today.\u00a0 The Israelites found that out when they tried to store up manna for another day.
