{"id":885,"date":"2012-01-15T09:00:53","date_gmt":"2012-01-15T15:00:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.barbdahlgren.com\/?p=885"},"modified":"2012-01-15T12:12:43","modified_gmt":"2012-01-15T18:12:43","slug":"oxymora","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/barbdahlgren.com\/?p=885","title":{"rendered":"Oxymora"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.barbdahlgren.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Question.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-886\" title=\"Question\" src=\"http:\/\/www.barbdahlgren.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Question-123x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"63\" height=\"123\" \/><\/a>Oxymora fascinate and confuse me.\u00a0 (In case you didn\u2019t know, \u201coxymora\u201d is the plural for oxymoron.\u00a0 A little fact I learned when my computer complained when I typed oxymorons.\u00a0 You learn something new every day, but I digress.)\u00a0 As I was saying, oxymora fascinate and confuse me.\u00a0 An oxymoron is a figure of speech that combines contradictory terms.\u00a0 Here are a few we use all the time\u2026<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Jumbo shrimp<\/li>\n<li>Sweet sorrow<\/li>\n<li>Pretty ugly<\/li>\n<li>Deliberately thoughtless<\/li>\n<li>Working vacation<\/li>\n<li>Authentic reproduction<\/li>\n<li>Local long distance<\/li>\n<li>Fresh frozen<\/li>\n<li>Current history<\/li>\n<li>Freezer burn<\/li>\n<li>Absolutely unsure<\/li>\n<li>Definite maybe<\/li>\n<li>A new classic<\/li>\n<li>Awfully good<\/li>\n<li>Easy labor<\/li>\n<li>Good lawyer<\/li>\n<li>Tequila flavored rum<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Okay, maybe there are some good lawyers, but they told me my labor was easy when I gave child birth and believe me, they were mistaken.\u00a0 Some of us might not use tequila flavored rum all the time, but some of us do.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Oxymora just all seem so illogical.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Some things in the Bible seem illogical too.\u00a0 Here are a few\u2026<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Cast your bread on the water and it will come back to you. (Ecclesiastes 11:1)<\/li>\n<li>The first will be last and the last will be first.\u00a0 (Matthew 20:16)<\/li>\n<li>When I am weak, I am strong. (2 Corinthians 12:10)<\/li>\n<li>There can be joy in trials. (James 1:2)<\/li>\n<li>Whoever humbles himself will be exalted. (Luke 14:11)<\/li>\n<li>To get you must give. (Luke 6:38)<\/li>\n<li>You must be born again.\u00a0 (John 3:1-7)<\/li>\n<li>We win we lose. (Philippians 3:7-11)<\/li>\n<li>He who finds his life will lose it. (Matthew 10:39)<\/li>\n<li>To save your life, you must lose it.
