It Is Good to Be Thankful: Appreciation makes the world a better place\u2026<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I am thankful for stuff\u2014and by that I mean physical possessions. However, most of us would admit we have too much stuff. There is even an old song called Too Much Stuff. Too much stuff leads to clutter. Since I function best with an uncluttered life, I\u2019m constantly trying to simplify and throw stuff out!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Being a writer, I love the word \u201cstuff\u201d because it has a bazillion meanings. People got lots of \u201cstuff.\u201d People strut their \u201cstuff.\u201d People know their \u201cstuff.\u201d People show their \u201cstuff.\u201d People pick their \u201cstuff\u201d up and put it away. People spread their \u201cstuff\u201d all around. Honored baseball pitchers have what is known as tremendous \u201cstuff.\u201d People buy \u201cstuff.\u201d People sell \u201cstuff.\u201d People \u201cstuff\u201d envelopes. At Christmas, we \u201cstuff\u201d stockings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

People have the \u201cstuff\u201d of greatness. Some people \u201cstuff\u201d their heads with knowledge. In fact, a little knowledge can be heady \u201cstuff.\u201d People \u201cstuff\u201d their faces. People \u201cstuff\u201d their pockets. People \u201cstuff\u201d their bags. People \u201cstuff\u201d their birds. Some people are \u201cstuffed\u201d shirts. People dish out \u201cstuff\u201d in conversations. Some people take that \u201cstuff\u201d from others and some people don\u2019t. And all people go through \u201cstuff\u201d they don\u2019t want to go through. \u201cStuff\u201d happens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At times, we all wish we had other people\u2019s \u201cstuff\u201d instead of our own. People got lots of \u201cstuff\u201d and sometimes their \u201cstuff\u201d looks better than our \u201cstuff.\u201d Some of us carry around a lot of excess emotional and psychological \u201cstuff\u201d that weighs us down and prevents us from making the progress we\u2019d like to make. Sometimes the \u201cstuff\u201d others are going through doesn\u2019t seem as hard as the \u201cstuff\u201d we\u2019re going through. But one thing is for sure. All people got \u201cstuff\u201d they have to put up with. No one goes through life without dealing with \u201cstuff.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

God never promised us we wouldn\u2019t have \u201cstuff\u201d to deal with or \u201cstuff\u201d to go through. However, He did say He wouldn\u2019t give us more \u201cstuff\u201d than we could handle (1 Corinthians 10:113). He also said that we should be content with such \u201cstuff\u201d as we have for He would never leave us or forsake us (Hebrews 13:5). He promised to be our strength when bad \u201cstuff\u201d happens (Psalms 37:39). He tells us that those who trust in their \u201cstuff\u201d will fall, but those who trust in God won\u2019t (Proverbs 11:28).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When people have God in their lives, they can take just about any old \u201cstuff\u201d this world throws at them. God helps us keep perspective when \u201cstuff\u201d happens. And only God has the right \u201cstuff\u201d to guide, protect, provide, strengthen, comfort, deliver, and help us on our daily journey with Him. With that in mind, all other \u201cstuff\u201d pales to insignificance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
