Prayers come in all different shapes and sizes. We can talk to God about anything. The point is to pray and pray often so we can keep a close relationship with God. Prayer helps us be attuned to God\u2019s voice. (John 10:27) We want God to know our voices as well. (Psalm 116:1, 2) Just look what happened to this rancher\u2026 \uf04a<\/p>\n

The Rancher\u2019s Prayer<\/strong><\/p>\n

A rancher in Wyoming went out to fix a fence.
\nThe wind was cold and gusty and the clouds rolled gray and dense,
\nAs he pounded the last staples in and gathered tools to go
\nThe temperature had fallen and the snow began to blow.<\/p>\n

When he finally reached his pickup, he felt a heavy heart.
\nFrom the sound of that ignition, he knew it would not start.
\nSo Jake did what most of us would do, if we had been there.
\nHe humbly bowed his balding head and sent aloft a prayer.<\/p>\n

As he turned the key for the last time, he softly cursed his luck.
\nThey found him 3 days later, frozen stiff in that old truck.
\nSo Jake went off to heaven and to him that was so sweet
\nStill he had quite a few questions when he met up with Saint Pete<\/p>\n

\u201cI’ve always heard,\u201d Jake said to Pete, \u201cthat God will answer prayer,
\nBut one time when I asked for help, He just plain wasn’t there.
\nDoes God answer prayers of some, and ignore the prayers of others?
\nThat does not seem exactly square. I know all men are brothers.\u201d<\/p>\n

Peter listened very patiently and then when Jake was done,
\nThere were smiles of recognition, and he said, \u201cSo, you’re the one!
\nThat day your truck would not start, you sent your prayer a flying.
\nYou gave us all a real bad time, with hundreds of us a trying.<\/p>\n

A thousand angels rushed to check the status of your file.
\nBut you know, Jake \u2013 we had not heard from you in quite a while.
\nAnd though all prayers are answered, and God ain’t got a quota,
\nHe did not recognize your voice, and started a truck in South Dakota.\u201d<\/p>\n
