{"id":2296,"date":"2014-07-06T09:00:54","date_gmt":"2014-07-06T14:00:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.barbdahlgren.com\/?p=2296"},"modified":"2014-06-29T17:48:16","modified_gmt":"2014-06-29T22:48:16","slug":"good-morning-lord","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/barbdahlgren.com\/?p=2296","title":{"rendered":"Good Morning Lord"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.barbdahlgren.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Good-Morning-Lord.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-2298\" alt=\"Good Morning Lord\" src=\"http:\/\/www.barbdahlgren.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Good-Morning-Lord.jpg\" width=\"175\" height=\"175\" srcset=\"https:\/\/barbdahlgren.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Good-Morning-Lord.jpg 175w, https:\/\/barbdahlgren.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Good-Morning-Lord-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 175px) 100vw, 175px\" \/><\/a>There are two ways to start a morning.\u00a0 We can moan and groan saying, \u201cGood Lord!\u00a0 It\u2019s morning!\u201d\u00a0 Or we can greet each new day with, \u201cGood morning, Lord!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I love it when we sing, \u201cThis is the day that the Lord has made; I will rejoice and be glad in it (Psalm 118:24)\u201d at church.\u00a0 However, many think it only applies to the Sabbath day &#8211; a day we all come together at church to worship God.\u00a0 While it\u2019s true that any day we all get together to worship God is a mighty fine day, it\u2019s also true that every day is a day the Lord has made.\u00a0 Each and every day is a gift from God.\u00a0 Therefore we should rejoice and be glad in each new day!<\/p>\n<p>How we start each new day can influence how we feel all day long.<\/p>\n<p>In my heart I know this, but I have a confession to make.\u00a0 I\u2019m not all that cheerful in the morning.\u00a0 Some people can\u2019t even be approached until they have their first cup of coffee.\u00a0 For me it takes a little longer because I don\u2019t like coffee.\u00a0 I don\u2019t bound out of bed facing each new day with a smile on my face and a song in my heart.\u00a0 And although I\u2019m a firm believer in trying to get some prayer and Bible reading done before I venture out into the world each day, some days are so hectic it seems impossible.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Therefore I\u2019ve devised a little ritual that helps me at least get out of bed with a half way decent attitude.\u00a0 I whisper, \u201cGood morning, Lord,\u201d and thank Him for something.\u00a0 Maybe I just thank him for a good night\u2019s sleep, or that I only had to get up to \u201ctinkle\u201d one time that night, or that I can actually get out of bed, or that I\u2019m still breathing.\u00a0 Even on our darkest days we have something to be thankful for.\u00a0 After all, with God in our lives we never have to face any day unloved or alone.<\/p>\n<p>Psalm 5:3 says, \u201cMy voice you shall hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning I will direct it to You and I will look up.\u201d\u00a0 In a small way, that\u2019s what I\u2019m trying to do.
