{"id":2279,"date":"2014-06-22T09:00:10","date_gmt":"2014-06-22T14:00:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.barbdahlgren.com\/?p=2279"},"modified":"2014-06-21T18:54:56","modified_gmt":"2014-06-21T23:54:56","slug":"overcoming-fear","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/barbdahlgren.com\/?p=2279","title":{"rendered":"Overcoming Fear"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.barbdahlgren.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Overcoming-Fear.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-2282\" alt=\"Overcoming-Fear\" src=\"http:\/\/www.barbdahlgren.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Overcoming-Fear-300x152.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"152\" srcset=\"https:\/\/barbdahlgren.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Overcoming-Fear-300x152.jpg 300w, https:\/\/barbdahlgren.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Overcoming-Fear-1024x522.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/barbdahlgren.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Overcoming-Fear.jpg 1518w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>My last few blogs have been exploring the subject of fear from a spiritual perspective.\u00a0\u00a0 We discussed having a healthy fear of God.\u00a0 We discussed having an unhealthy kind of fear that paralyzes us and keeps us from living life to the fullest.\u00a0 We discussed God helping us deal with our fears by holding our hands and walking with us through life.\u00a0 (Isaiah 41:13)<\/p>\n<p>Fear is an emotion we humans struggle with, so it\u2019s only natural God would speak of it so often in the Bible \u2013 encouraging us not to fall into its grip.\u00a0 We should control our fears, not let our fears control us.\u00a0 Of course this is easier said than done.<\/p>\n<p>Psalm 34:4 tells us that God delivers us from our fears\u2026 when we seek him.\u00a0 Seeking God is a key to overcoming fear.\u00a0 However, this seeking of God is not just so He will deliver us from our trials or fears.\u00a0 We seek God so we can place our trust and faith in him.\u00a0 It\u2019s this faith and trust in God that calms our anxious hearts.<\/p>\n<p>God has to continually remind us that He is with us.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>God commanded Joshua to \u201cbe strong and courageous.\u00a0 Do not be afraid or discouraged.\u00a0 For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.\u201d\u00a0 (Joshua 1:9 NLT)<\/li>\n<li>David wrote, &#8220;Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil, for You are with me.&#8221; (Psalm 23:4-6)<\/li>\n<li>God told Isaiah, \u201cFear not for I am with you. Be not dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you. I will help you.
