Enjoy!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>If God Should Go on Strike<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">From the book:\u00a0<em> Homespun Gospel, The Poetry of Walt Huntley<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">How is it that God above<br \/>\nHas never gone on strike<br \/>\nBecause He was not treated fair<br \/>\nIn things He didn&#8217;t like.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">If only once He&#8217;d given up,<br \/>\nAnd said, &#8220;That&#8217;s it, I&#8217;m through!<br \/>\nI&#8217;ve had enough of those on Earth,<br \/>\nSo this is what I&#8217;ll do;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">I&#8217;ll give my orders to the Sun \u2013<br \/>\n&#8216;Cut off the heat supply!&#8217;<br \/>\nAnd tell the moon, &#8216;Give no more light<br \/>\nAnd run the ocean dry.\u2019<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Then just to make things really tough<br \/>\nAnd put the pressure on,<br \/>\nTurn off the vital oxygen<br \/>\nTill every breath is gone!\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">You know, He would be justified<br \/>\nIf fairness was the game.<br \/>\nFor no one has been more abused<br \/>\nOr met with more disdain<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Than God, and yet He carries on,<br \/>\nSupplying you and me<br \/>\nWith all the favors of His grace<br \/>\nAnd everything for free.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Men say they want a better deal<br \/>\nAnd so on strike they go.<br \/>\nBut what a deal we&#8217;ve given God<br \/>\nTo whom all things we owe.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">We don\u2019t care whom we hurt<br \/>\nTo gain the things we like;<br \/>\nBut what a mess we\u2019d all be in<br \/>\nIf God should go on strike.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ordinarily I wouldn\u2019t run two poems so close together, but this one ties in so well with my series on fairness that I thought I\u2019d run it this week.
