{"id":1780,"date":"2013-07-27T09:00:22","date_gmt":"2013-07-27T14:00:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.barbdahlgren.com\/?p=1780"},"modified":"2013-07-19T21:29:10","modified_gmt":"2013-07-20T02:29:10","slug":"does-one-person-make-a-difference-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/barbdahlgren.com\/?p=1780","title":{"rendered":"Does One Person Make a Difference?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.barbdahlgren.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/One-Person-Makes-a-Difference.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-1793\" alt=\"One Person Makes a Difference\" src=\"http:\/\/www.barbdahlgren.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/One-Person-Makes-a-Difference.jpg\" width=\"180\" height=\"183\" \/><\/a>Sometimes we feel insignificant, like what we do or say doesn\u2019t really make a difference. After all, as we look around we see many who are better looking, more talented, smarter, more articulate, and wiser than we are. What contribution can we make to society? How can we make a difference?<\/p>\n<p>The answer is we make a difference by the way we live our lives. If a person models his\/her life after Christ and Christian principals, that person can make a big difference in the lives of family, friends, neighbors, coworkers, and society in general. Let\u2019s look at a biblical example\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Jeremiah was a prophet of God to whom God foretold the destruction of Judah and Jerusalem. Judah was exhorted to repent of their evil ways, but refused. In Jeremiah 5:1 God tells him to &#8220;Go up and down the streets of Jerusalem, look around and consider, search through her squares. If you can find but one person who deals honestly and seeks the truth, I will forgive this city.\u201d Unfortunately no such person could be found. One person could have prevented the destruction of a whole city.<\/p>\n<p>The question we should ask ourselves is, \u201cWould I be that one person?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m not sure my actions could spare the destruction of a city, but I\u2019m firmly convinced that what I do makes a difference. Here\u2019s a little poem that illustrates that.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>The Power of One<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">One song can spark a moment.<br \/>\nOne flower can wake the dream.<br \/>\nOne tree can start a forest.<br \/>\nOne bird can herald spring.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">One smile begins a friendship.<br \/>\nOne handclasp lifts a soul.<br \/>\nOne star can guide a ship at sea.<br \/>\nOne word can frame the goal.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">One vote can change a nation.<br \/>\nOne sunbeam lights a room.<br \/>\nOne candle wipes out darkness.<br \/>\nOne laugh will conquer gloom.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">One step must start each journey.<br \/>\nOne word must start each prayer.<br \/>\nOne hope will raise our spirits.<br \/>\nOne touch can show you care.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">One voice can speak with wisdom.<br \/>\nOne heart can know what&#8217;s true.<br \/>\nOne life can make the difference.<br \/>\nYou see, it\u2019s up to YOU!<br \/>\n<em>~Anonymous<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sometimes we feel insignificant, like what we do or say doesn\u2019t really make a difference.
